I would just like to mention that class is so much better when you get up and move instead of sitting the entire time.
In French, we learned how to swing dance today–the French way–and it was literally the most fun I’ve had in a while. Everyone was on her feet and we were all laughing and smiling and dancing terribly to French music videos. Even our teacher was dancing with us. Of course, the fact that we were dancing for 80% of our class was enough to brighten my day but the fact that every single student in my class was doing it with me made me really happy. It was just a nice feeling.
So maybe we hardly learn any language skills like grammar and speaking and vocabulary, but I am learning about the people I sit next to almost every day and I’m learning from a human being, not a robotic lecturer. I just feel like the class, specifically our teacher, isn’t treating us, her students, knowledge receptacles that can memorize well and take tests. And I think learning about my peers and learning about people is just as valid, or even more valid, than arithmetic and what not.
I don’t know. H Block makes me happy now. Classes like this don’t happen much, even at a “prestigious” school. Just thinking about H Block now makes me smile and hum with contentment.
For once, yay for school. Something went better than it was supposed to be.
Stay Excellent!
